Temple Quarry Trail St. George

Info

This trail is a nice track that follows the black ridge-line overlooking Green Valley. The trail follows the basalt boulders to the area of mountain in which the early Latter-Day Saint colonizers began to mine solid stone basalt rocks from the mountain to build the foundation of the temple that would be a symbol of their worship. You can still see the holes used when drilling the blasting lines and according to trail markers if you look closely you can see remains of the blasting powder on the rocks still at the quarry. The trail continues on past the quarry until it reaches a subdivision.
